Vision and Ethos

Our vision is for all children to believe in themselves and develop a love of lifelong learning as we grow together as part of God’s family. Rooted in our Christian values, we welcome and cherish everyone, of all faiths and none. We believe that every child is unique and valued.

We aim to provide a nurturing environment where all pupils feel safe, can flourish and are inspired to reach their full potential. We are committed to ensuring that every child secures strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics, while also experiencing a rich and balanced curriculum that develops creativity, curiosity and confidence. Through this, every child can achieve aspirational outcomes, make progress and become confident individuals living life in all its fullness (John 10:10).

We respond to each child as an individual, recognising their varied life experiences and particular needs. Rooted in our Christian foundation, and through a culture of care and encouragement, we seek to grow learners who are curious, resilient and full of hope for their future.

Vision Statement

We will believe:

• That we can fulfil our God-given potential.

• That each voice is important.

• In ourselves and in each other.

Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

We will learn:

• Securely, developing firm foundations in reading, writing and mathematics.

• Broadly, through a rich and creative curriculum that inspires curiosity and a love of learning.

• In a happy and safe environment.

• To love ourselves and celebrate our uniqueness.

• To become more independent and resilient.

Proverbs 22:6

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

We will grow:

• In wisdom, love and compassion – treating others as we want to be treated.

• In aspiration and curiosity – asking questions about the world around us.

• Into active citizens contributing positively to our community.

• Together as part of God’s family.

Colossians 2:7

Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

‘From Small Seeds to Mighty Trees’

We use the parable of the Mustard Seed (Matthew 13:32) to help all children understand our vision and how it applies to their lives:

“It is the smallest of all seeds, but it becomes the largest of garden plants; it grows into a tree, and birds come and make nests in its branches.”

Children at Ridgeway Farm understand that through believing in themselves and others, and through their daily learning, they grow from the smallest seeds when they enter school to the mighty trees they become by the time they leave. These mighty trees stand strong and tall, offering shelter, comfort and strength to others.

Our vision is that every child will become one of these mighty trees – rooted in strong values, equipped with firm foundations across the curriculum, and confident to reach their full potential in the world.
